This is a scene where I invented symbolism that wasn't in the script. I set out to make the visuals of the film layered and full of meaning. The painting on the wall is"Chronos Devouring His Son" by Francisco De Goya and on the mantle are original Star Wars action figures by Kenner of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. Both images say the same thing, The first is a classical reference the latter is modern. This guy has sorted history with his father.
This scene uses the Edward Hopper painting "Soir Bleu". This quote explains: "The cleverest character in comedy is the clown, For he who would make people take him for a fool, must not be one." -Miguel de Cervantes
“For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love.” -Carl Sagan
